Ok a company described as selling hardware and software solutions, what exactly does that mean?

a silly question may be but all I need is a basic gist of what that entails? Thanks.

  • Businesses now sell solutions not products. If a client has a need to improve their inventory control system and are looking for the software and associated hardware to set up bar scanners and software to track inventory levels and do calculations on reorder points the company will sell them a solution to their problem. The solution being the hardware and software necessary to accomplish their goal.

From a marketing point of view it makes a better pitch to say we are going to “sell you a solution’ then to say we are selling you a new computerized inventory system.

Wouldn’t you like to buy a solution then buy a computer?
