Soft chocolate chip cookies made with applesauce?

My great-grandmother used to make these great chocolate chip cookies that were not just chewy, but almost spongy-soft, and puffy and not just when they were right out of the oven. All i know about the specifics is that there was applesauce in them that made them soft. Has anyone heard of a recipe like this? Thanks!

Hi, I do not know of an exact recipe, but I wanted to let you know that applesauce is a common replacement of oil in recipes. I use it all the time as a dietician, and believe me, you cannot taste a difference, and it’s better for you. You may be able to try a choc. chip recipe and instead of oil, put in applesauce. I follow this conversion:
1/2 cup oil in a recipe = 1/3 cup applesauce

I hope this helps a little!
